new news:
02/11/07 - Well, I've had quite the good time... NOT! My computer crashed and I lost all of my information. Thankfully I'd just backed up the manuscripts and my family photos. These are, of course, the things my mother and mother-in-law would kill me if I ever lost. My mom digs the stories, and my MIL digs the snapshots of her grandbabies... okay, my mom likes those too.
But anyway, now that I've got all this free space to play with (now that my harddrive is no longer cluttered up with all my family's crap) I decided to start making some more changes. I'm about to migrate the site to a new host so we can do away with all that advertising that drives us nuts.... well, it drives me nuts.
In the mean time we're writing, we're writing, we're writing....

I
started writing the Welcome To Azdia Trilogy. First book
is "Home of the Gods" in which two mortals named
Kline Davenport and his friend Michele Radcliff suddenly
find themselves uncerimoniously (and rather painfully) dumped
on a another planet. You guessed it, the planet is Azdia.
My co-writer in this series is Karen Wolf Taylor, who is
also the official artist of Azdia, as well as the infamous
Hippylady.
Steadfast
(book 1 of the Tyria Trilogy) is in the final stages of
polish. It's currently being formated into an ebook. Of
Unholy Affairs (bk 2) is soon to follow. As soon as that's
done and it's passed Faith's final scrutinization I'll be
sending out copies to those who've been on the Extremely
Patently Waiting List.
Right
now my plans are to 1) survive the holiday season, 2) polish
Steadfast and get it sent off, 3) finish the draft to Home
of the Gods, 4) finsih the draft to Of Unholy Afairs, and
5) get working on a book called Nine Keys (introduction
book to the Lost Immortals Series). All before March. Hopefully.
But there's that whole A Husband and Half a Dozen Kids thing
to plan around, so we'll see.
Other
books on the horizon for 2007 are:
A Dog Named War (Tyria -3)
The Price of Citizenship (Welcome to Azdia -2)
City Splitter (Welcome to Azdia -3)
Bob the God (Conversations With Bob -1)
Bob & Fred's Fine Smokables (Conversations With Bob
-2)
The Firegod's Indigestion
(Conversations With Bob -3)
Radiant's Prophecy (End of Earth -1)
Hel's
Sister (Lost Immortals)
As some of you already know, the Conversations
With Bob (CWB) series is going to be a comedy. It's been
essentially writing itself for the last three years and
is a collection of all the inside jokes of Azdia. It's imperative
that this series be written, even if a publisher never picks
it up. If it isn't picked up I'll be forced to give it away
for free because it's one of those things a girl just can't
keep to herself.
OLD
NEWS:
New
look (slightly) and undergoing new organization here on
the website. I’ve decided to go ahead and concentrate
on making ‘us’ more sellable…
oh, who the heck am I kidding? I could care less if any
of this ever gets published! ~SNORT~ But no, I will not
be posting full-length manuscripts for everyone’s
free enjoyment… yet. It would be nice to get published,
and therefore it would be bad to simply give away a potential
publisher’s profits (or my own for that matter). But
someday I’d like to have enough published books under
my belt to go ahead and make a few available for free in
electronic media.
So,
go ahead, look around, kick the tires. If you want to complain
(or offer me a great book deal) you can contact me here.

Okay,
so the draft of book one is done! Now it's off to the continuity
editor's and due back in my little hands tomorrow. After
that it goes to proofing, then to copy, then off to the
publisher!
In
the meanwhile we are working on book two. We just started
chapter 5 and have outlined the script to have approximately
30 chapters. In book two (of Unholy Affairs) we get to know
the internal workings of the politics behind Azdia a little
bit more, meet a few new (old) characters from other stories,
and learn a bit about the history of Tyria as well as the
reasoning behind their religious beliefs. We also get to
kill a traitor, crown a king, start a lucrative planetary
business, and find out who Wisdom is! **evil grin** But
not all in that order.
Our
primary artist, Karen, is busily making sketches for the
cover, as well as the various other art we need to put this
all together. I'll see if I can get her permission to get
some of the sketches up for viewing (as soon as I get them,
lol). We're going for a kind of modernized Frank Frezetta
look. No naked women (sorry guys) but that kind of tilt.

Yeah, okay, big lag on the updates blog. I've been a little
busy, busy writing that is!
We
finished the initial draft and are now into the editting
phaze. We went waaaaay over our word count so we are doing
a partial rewrite in order to eliminate the first third
of the book. Don't worry it isn't going away. We cut it
out and set it aside so we can expand it into a novella
later on down the road.
The
story is taking on more of military SciFi sort of feel,
which is good since it's about the God of War. BUT we're
also endevoring to keep it lighter, then say John Ringo,
so our non-military type fans don't get put off.
We
also would like to welcome Anna Mechana to the team. Anna
signed on as our continuity editor two weeks ago and has
agreed to edit the entire Tyria Series. We're trying (really
hard) to not freak her out like we did our last continuity
editor.
That's
it for now. Keep dreaming your dreams and raching for the
future!

So, certain
people asked if we could make Steadfast ‘a bit more
epic’… one of the technical advisors asked ‘why
isn’t there more time travel in this one’…
Heh…
we’re switching things up a bit. Now there will be
two plots in the book, one happening within Tyria, and one
happening throughout the timeline. The book will graduate
from its already written fantastical beginning to an all-out
temporal war, complete with battle fleets and highly developed
Valkynite technologies. The Eryk will also put in an appearance,
as well as Time, Death, and Vengeance. Cameos from future
gods will also include introductions to gods that no one
has even heard of before. Ever wonder what Nightmare looks
like? You’ll get the description in a soon to come
chapter, but that’s all I’m telling you. **grin**

Daneri
of Tyria
Speaking
of John Ringo I highly recommend his books
across the board! Go ahead and check out his website.
For those who are military novices I suggest his Council
Wars series. For those who really like a good
meaty military SciFi I suggest the Legacy
of the Aldenata books. For those with children
who drive you nuts check out The
Empire of Man.

Short Stories? ROFLMAO!!!!!
Okay,
I’ve decided to go ahead and start posting some
of my short stories here on the site. Why? Because
it will force me to actually write them!
As a few of you know,
I’m an incredibly longwinded person. It’s
said that women get 3,000 words per day while men
only 1,000. Men use up all their words at work, which
is why they have nothing left to say to their wives
after they get home at night. Personally, I think
that men got 3,000 in the beginning too, but some
smarty-pants somewhere decided to skim 2,000 words
right off the top of each man’s day and give
them to me! And if I ever find that smarty-pants I’m
going to find new and creative ways to kill him or
her very, very slowly.
Now, because of this
excess of words (that seems to range in the billions)
I find it very hard to write ‘short’ stories.
A few years ago I told a friend that I’d written
a short story and his response was, “So it’s
only about, what, 120,000 words?” ~SLAP~
Anyway… I am
posting my ‘short’ stories, one by friggin
one. Not all of them are science fiction (please,
no one have panic attacks. I was not taken over by
body snatchers.). I do, on occasion, have inspiration
to write of the ‘mundane’.
So,
without further blabbering… my Short
Stories.

So, we’re
writing a nice little book called Steadfast. Its nothing
much, just the story of how Shael came to be elected God
by the people of a backwater world called Tyria.
We had a slow start, mostly because I was moving my not-so-normal
family to another state. Then a few of us got caught up
in getting a quaint e-zine called APOV on Autism off the
ground…. Okay, so that one’s still learning
to fly. Check it out and tell us what you think: APOV
on Autism.
Anyhoo,
we’re back, mostly in full swing, but now we’ve
run into a mismatch of time schedules and internet connections.
One of us went back to work, leaving the other of us without
a chaperone. You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff
I put down on paper when my more highly moraled half isn’t
here to reign me in. At one point I even killed the heroine,
I think it was chapter 7, and had to go back rewrite it.
She isn’t due to die until chapter 41-ish.
We’ll
be putting up teasers, of course, as well as maps, artwork,
etc. Someday we’ll even publish a book….
